In March 2017 a piece was published on GlobalChild project; and international initiative, conducted under the auspices of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, which aims at operationalizing the CRC through the use of indicators framework and developing a comprehensive child rights monitoring platform. Since then the project has advanced and met a few milestones. The following provides a synopsis of the progress of the multinational team of GlobalChild:
- The team has now completed phase I of the process of developing the indicators for all 41 substantive rights of the CRC. The outcome of this phase is a series of succinct papers that identifies the attributes for each right. IN phase II, which is underway currently, the team, will develop indicators based on the identified attributes. The GlobalChild team intends to compile and publish book of these 42 attribute papers;
- In March 2019, once the indicators are developed, the team is intending to open the indicators to the feedback from a group of international experts from different walks of life within child rights, through an on-line survey system and prior to digitization of the indicators to build GlobalChild platform;
- The GlobalChild program has also recently launched a large global undertaking called Global Child Rights Dialog (GCRD) Through the GCRD the team reaches out to children of the globe and seeks their opinions on all these substantive rights. Over 40 countries have so far joined GCRD to bring the voices of a cohort of children from their country to the this global dialog; and
